Who we are

The Natural Health Option is the clinic of Van Seng, a holistic and natural health practitioner. We provide consultations, energy sessions, workshops and handmade products, in clinic and online. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal information, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

We only collect information we need to provide our services. This may include your name, email address, phone number and date of birth; your health history, symptoms, lifestyle, diet and the goals you share with us; any results or records you choose to bring to a consultation; notes made during sessions; booking, purchase and payment details; and your email preferences if you join our newsletter. Health information is sensitive information under the Privacy Act, and we treat it with particular care.

How we collect it

Most information comes directly from you, through intake forms, consultations, bookings, online purchases, event registrations, emails and phone calls. We do not collect health information about you from other people without your consent. Our website may also collect basic technical information, such as your browser type and the pages you visit, through cookies and analytics.

How we use it

We use your information to provide and plan your sessions, keep accurate client records, process bookings and payments, send products, respond to your questions, let you know about workshops and events if you have asked us to, and meet our legal and insurance obligations. We do not sell your personal information, and we never use your health information for marketing.

Who we share it with

We only share your information when it is needed to provide our services or when the law requires it. This can include trusted providers who help us run the business, such as our booking, payment, email and website platforms, which store information on our behalf. We will not share your health information with any other practitioner or third party without your written consent, unless we are required or authorised by law. Some of our service providers may store data outside Australia; when this happens we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected.

Photos and testimonials

We only publish photos, names or words from clients with their written consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us, and we will remove the material from our website and social media as soon as reasonably possible.

How we protect it

Client records are stored securely, with access limited to Van. We use password protected systems and reputable platforms, and we keep paper records locked away. We keep health records for the period required by law and good practice, then destroy or de identify them securely.

Your choices

You can ask to see the information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in each email. You may also contact us without giving your full name, although we may need your details to provide a service.

If you have a question about your privacy or would like to make a complaint, please contact us by email at van@thenaturalhealthoption.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
